Nobody loves you when you’re 23. And you still act like you’re in freshman year. What the hell is ADD? My friends say I should act my age. What’s my age again? What’s my age again?

At 23, I was beginning to form better habits and cut off anyone/anything that was bogging me down or hindering my growth. I decided I wanted more for myself and worked hard to get my life to a good place that I could feel proud of. (25 year old me is so grateful for 23 year old me)

2

u/LowDirector6598 Sep 25 '22

Thank you for this

15

u/cherryskies1 Sep 25 '22

A mess

3

u/LowDirector6598 Sep 25 '22

How did you fix it

4

u/Miramarr Sep 25 '22

Got older and learned from more experience

13

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '22

Dumb but energetic.

12

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '22

You know what’s weird is nobody did like me when I was 23. It was like the one year of my life where everyone around me was just awful

10

u/coolshowing Sep 25 '22

Well find out in 5 years

6

u/LowDirector6598 Sep 25 '22

Take your time

4

u/coolshowing Sep 25 '22

Ofc i am its not like i can speed up the aging process lol

2

u/-SomeKindOfSoup Sep 25 '22

Oh, well in five years time we could be walking 'round a zoo

9

u/UntrimmedBagel Sep 25 '22

In school, super stressed, overworked, burnt out, pretty depressed. Then one day I made it to the finish line and life has been good since.

31

u/Dapper-Bridge5096 Sep 25 '22

Depressed, confused and lost

7

u/LowDirector6598 Sep 25 '22

Same boat

7

u/Dapper-Bridge5096 Sep 25 '22

I hope you are doing good. How're you dealing with this?

16

u/east-skill-678910 Sep 25 '22

Same but you start to realize life just keeps going regardless how you feel and no matter what it’s doesn’t wait for you. Next thing you know you have already lived a quarter of your life and either you keep wasting it letting the days keep going by or just experience life regardless of the ups and down.

2

u/Dapper-Bridge5096 Sep 25 '22

Yes, that's the harsh truth - (to accept whatever comes in the way)

There must be so many people who suffer but are not open about this. Mental health should be normalised.

5

u/Allen_1985 Sep 25 '22

Less of an asshole as I am today. I needed to learn soo much more assholery

6

u/relentlessvisions Sep 25 '22

I was so lonely. I was well-liked but didn’t have any friends and I was still a virgin and felt like the world knew something I didn’t. Working as an admin and living in a slummy apartment.

Then the internet came along.

6

u/quarterscrew15 Sep 25 '22

Funnily enough, I had a plan laid out for my life. Now, I'm just getting by.....

I was very depressed and confused. Decided to stay single by choice so now I'm doing so much better, found peace with myself and want to stay that way as long as I can. Learned alot about my self though.

4

u/SpicedPumpkinRum Sep 25 '22

Lost, depressed, struggling. 31 and feeling the same again now, so yay.

4

u/ohheyyeahthatsme Sep 25 '22

At 23, I took a chance on an entry level job opportunity in an industry I didn't know much about and moved to a new city, breaking off a 5 year relationship in the process. I'm so glad I did! It's a good time in your life to say yes to opportunities when they come up, even if it's a little scary.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '22

About the same, it was only 2 years ago for me LOL

Actually, I will say that I was less in control of my stress and anxiety. I've gotten into spirituality and meditation and it has helped tremendously

5

u/LolvidePLC Sep 25 '22

I'm 23 now. I feel like i finally know myself and my worth after years of insecurities, i think the most important things are the people you love and nature, i'm picking up new hobbies and meeting new people, i'm starting to take my health seriously and breaking old bad habits, started therapy for ADHD, i finally feel like dating again after a 4 year break from that... In general, it feels like the point in my life so far when things finally start getting better :) i'm full of hope

2

u/FYISominus Sep 25 '22

Glad to hear, keep up the effort!

This sounds amazing. I wish you all the best

4

u/NatsuDragnee1 Sep 25 '22

Naive and in a lot of ways foolish. Incredibly clueless about people and relationships as well as choice of career and what I wanted to do.

5

u/Slandzoner Sep 25 '22

Same place I am now Melbourne Victoria Australia 🇦🇺

3

u/askXmeXaboutX2006-7 Sep 25 '22

Feeling really lost right now.

4

u/nerevisigoth Sep 25 '22

Pretty good. It's when I finally broke out of the depression that had gripped me since I was 15. I was making six figures and dating a hot nympho who turned out to be completely insane, but that was a problem for 24 year old me.

3

u/Alert_Technology_191 Sep 25 '22

I'll come back in a year <3

3

u/N7_TurtleClub Sep 25 '22

Oh I fell down a drunken path of shit and college misery

3

u/bannedinaday31 Sep 25 '22

No one liked me

3

u/fire-lord-momo Sep 25 '22

At the lowest point in my life

3

u/ami2weird4u Sep 25 '22

I had few friends but didn’t keep in touch often. Now I have no friends.

3

u/kirinmay Sep 25 '22

I complete asshole. I was very fit and had great style. But I only cared about me. This was in 2003.

3

u/waffleBol Sep 25 '22

TO THE FUTURE

3

u/kfishy17 Sep 25 '22

Idk yet but the way it’s heading looks like it won’t be fun :/

3

u/luna_rey55 Sep 25 '22

Depressed, jobless, in a pandemic and did not have hope for my life.

3

u/NBTMtaco Sep 25 '22

I was in the shape of my life, had loads of friends, was dating a spitfire of a girl (I screwed that up :/), making decent money. Life was pretty good.

Prideful, arrogant, and a know it all.

3

u/MystifiedMist Sep 25 '22

I was learning to build my confidence at 23, but not quite there yet. It took four more years to complete the mental climax of confidence. My 28th year was the best year of my life, and I often review that time to get through these later stages of life.

3

u/Strawberrypalms Sep 25 '22

23 now. Jack of all trades master of none. Degree no job, unsure what to do in life or what I want out of it.

3

u/loah99 Sep 25 '22

Well considering I'm 23 now it's a funny age I look at 18 and 19 year Olds and think wow so immature but I'm sure 29-30 year olds think I'm immature. I don't know.

3

u/maximum_powerblast Sep 25 '22

A dumb asshole who thought he was the shit

3

u/daisybluebird9 Sep 25 '22

Turned 23 on my honeymoon. Happy, hopeful, somewhat carefree. Working as a nanny and waitress. Finishing my college degree (education). Biked everywhere.

3

u/elismith10 Sep 25 '22

Working on call for the railroad 24/7 365. Still doing it.

3

u/DidDunMegasploded Sep 25 '22

I was probably just a tad bit smarter last year. Just a tad. Not much.

3

u/WiseWillow89 Sep 25 '22

I was in love with my colleague who was engaged and I was trying to date other people but just couldn’t make it work because I loved someone else. It was a confusing time 🥴😒😖

7

u/watthehap1sfuckening Sep 25 '22

An absolute shithead burnout who drank way too much, smoked way too much pot, and was content to just work at a pizza place and continue consuming substances for the foreseeable future

I'm 26 now and starting to get my shit together. I still have a long way to go, but my point is just because shits bad at 23 doesn't mean it will be for the rest of your life

I’m 23 now and tbh I’m very confused and have no idea what I’m doing

5

u/slippinonsoap Sep 25 '22

I’m also 23 and I resonate with this a lot

2

u/Strawberrypalms Sep 25 '22

Same here. Not fun

3

u/Antarias92 Sep 25 '22

It doesn’t get any better

4

u/Valiric999 Sep 25 '22

Not there yet. So close, but yet so far away

4

An angry drunk with good art and guitar skills.

2

u/Expensive-Tonight-26 Sep 25 '22

Smoking lots of weed and slacking at my min wage job, moved to my first apartment with my little sister and I lost the love of my life. It was quite a year

2

u/Skydome12 Sep 25 '22

don't remember

2

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '22
  • Still had specs
  • Not much muscle mass
  • Lacked confidence
  • Had so much energy to enjoy life
  • Curious
  • Edgy

2

u/Akiri2ui Sep 25 '22

Not sure yet, haven’t been there yet

2

u/diskdiffusion Sep 25 '22

I was taken as a literal 16yo at 23, and it was the peak when i was preyed on. Good lord.

2

u/aussiegreenie Sep 25 '22

Rich and Stupid....now poor and stupid

2

u/yeehee087 Sep 25 '22

i’ll come back and answer this next year

2

u/Rosenoire9 Sep 25 '22

Dumb...very dumb, I made dumb mistakes.

3

u/LowDirector6598 Sep 25 '22

Would you be comfortable to elaborate

2

u/Rosenoire9 Sep 25 '22

I got involved with the worst kind of humans to ever walk this planet, then found myself homeless (totally preventable) but decided to stay with them anyways. Lost my house lost my job, found my self on the streets with a kid growing inside of me... I’m 40 now and I would change nothing about the painful past because it gave me the amazing child I have today.

2

u/Soft_Watercress3059 Sep 25 '22

I had just started working out and nobody could stand my cranky attitude

2

u/macaronsforeveryone Sep 25 '22

Idealistic but also unrealistic. I always look back on my younger self and think about how stupid I was.

2

u/LilTeats4u Sep 25 '22

Well.. that me light right now..

2

u/gouravrao Sep 25 '22

Law school.

2

u/Velvet_Smyle Sep 25 '22

Partying endlessly

2

u/GCSloth Sep 25 '22

23 and so tired of life. Could I have been?

2

u/Bladebrent Sep 25 '22

"Nah, I dont need therapy"

I was wrong

2

u/Mariposa510 Sep 25 '22

Young and healthy.

2

u/Sharp-Security-3000 Sep 25 '22

I'm not quite there yet but the best way to describe myself is lost. I'm sort of paving a direction for my life, like I'm in school and applying for jobs, learning about stuff, whatever. But I feel like I'm ultimately just living life on autopilot. It feels like there is more for me to make myself feel complete but idk.

2

u/TheOGPatches Sep 25 '22

Had no personality and miserable. Mother controlled every aspect of my life.

2

u/Turning18bad Sep 25 '22

Hold on lemme get the time machine

2

u/rubythroat22 Sep 25 '22

Had no idea i waa dealing with undiagnosed bipolar disorder. I was a very erratic, impulsive, and suicidal person. Meds gave me my life back.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '22

In my first year of marriage, a father to a four-year-old, and running a newspaper in a small town in the Texas panhandle and kicking ass at it.

2

u/Ginger-Beefcake Sep 25 '22

Somewhere between slightly intoxicated and completely inebriated.

2

u/DerangedHenchman Sep 25 '22

I don't know yet.

2

u/BillAdministrative61 Sep 25 '22

Fun hopeful full of life …. naive and very stupid in certain aspects

2

u/Zootropic Sep 25 '22

Worthless. I still am.

2

u/handwavingmadly Sep 25 '22

Went from one bad relationship to another because I was lonely and had no self confidence. On the plus side, I also changed my major at uni, which lead me down an interesting and rewarding career path.

2

u/stlights Sep 25 '22

Some people would have called me cocky but I liked to refer to it as confident

2

u/Direk12 Sep 25 '22

1 foot in the street 1 foot starting a family

2

u/AnimeBoops Sep 25 '22

No idea not there yet for another 3 years

2

u/freemason777 Sep 25 '22

Basically the same. I smoked then but that's about the biggest difference

2

u/OneObligation412 Sep 25 '22

Idk... I will answer it in 7 years when I get there

2

u/Krugzy Sep 25 '22

A lost suicidal drunk who wouldn’t get help for another year after trying to kill themselves again

2

u/OhYeahitsJosh Sep 25 '22

A mess. House burned down and I lost everything. Blacked out on the LSAT as a result. I didn’t have a place to live or a job right after college. Friend died in a car accident a few months earlier. Grandma died a few months before that.

It was not a fun time.

2

u/McSmackthe1st Sep 25 '22

I was optimistic about the future. Man I was a dumbass.

2

u/ChappaQuitIt Sep 25 '22

A drunken, misguided fool with undiagnosed issues.

2

u/Emergency-Rise1680 Sep 25 '22

Idk about youooooouuuuu but I'm feeling 22222222222222

2

u/monalisse Sep 25 '22

I was thinner with no gray hairs and I did not fully appreciate that.

2

u/GrimSeel Sep 25 '22

I'm a Teenager

2

u/Pure-Bug3745 Sep 25 '22

I'm still 22 so I'll come back in the future lol😂

2

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '22

Like this, but less deteriorated.

2

u/NewSapphire Sep 25 '22

desperately clinging to the amazing memories of college... I wasn't ready for entering the real world and likely had depression

2

u/Beard341 Sep 25 '22

Medicated, depressed.

2

u/Jun19381 Sep 25 '22

I think I’m doing pretty alright. Just need a more solid job to take care of my family :)

2

u/Vexonte Sep 25 '22

I'll find out next week

2

u/luckeegurrrl5683 Sep 25 '22

I was living with an ex-boyfriend at his dad's house. He was supposed to have gone to work in another state, but he didn't go and he was fired. So I was cleaning up the house and taking care of the dog. My boyfriend's mom had divorced the dad already, so she wasn't there. My boyfriend was sad because he had a really good band in L.A. that broke up. He wasn't working and was just making music.

I went to college and worked at the mall. I worked at Robinson-May and got to work at the cosmetic counter and the wedding gift section. I even got to help dress the male model for a wedding runway event!

My boyfriend found new friends and kept talking about some girl. I had to go back to my old college to continue classes towards a B.A. in Anthropology. I decided to move back home and go to college. It was the right decision!

2

u/Conscious_Stand9259 Sep 25 '22

Younger. And drunk

2

u/dcano19 Sep 25 '22

I have not been 23 yet so hopefully better than I am now

2

u/Famous-Ad2084 Sep 25 '22

That was my wild partying year lol

2

u/Salt_Champion_8289 Sep 25 '22

Lazy, stupid, depressed, sex addict, cutter.

2

u/supahket Sep 25 '22

Angry and with my head pretty far up my ass.

2

u/ElleYesMon Sep 25 '22

Confused.

2

u/SupremeKommander Sep 25 '22

What I hope to be is a teacher. 2 1/2 years away

2

u/Relative-Ad-87 Sep 25 '22

Independent. Free-spirited. Living and working in a ski resort in a foreign country. On my own

2

u/theProfileGuy Sep 25 '22

At 23 I owned 3 cars and had a company car. I was in the top 1% of earners and still lived with mum and dad.

Why am I so broke? Lol

2

u/oniwolf382 Sep 25 '22

Pretty sure that was the age I had my 2nd suicide attempt, tried it at work that time.

After being unsuccessful, left a note and went on a Loooooooong drive.

Got home to quite a welcoming party of police.

I guess I was pretty insufferable.

2

u/10BarbedWire Sep 25 '22

I'm not 23 today, but I'll be even more miserable than today

2

u/Jinxy_Kat Sep 25 '22

Currently 23 and I literally have no friends. I have no social life, and it's depressing.

2

u/Antarias92 Sep 25 '22

On the verge of spontaneous combustion

2

u/blindCurtain666 Sep 25 '22

I’m 22, I’ll get back to you in a year

2

u/jeremiah_was Sep 25 '22

I was alot of fun party all the time, drugs galore..... But I also was being arrested alot and getting into trouble

2

2

i don't know I haven't been 23 yet

2

u/raendall Sep 25 '22

2

u/ReklessS0ul Sep 25 '22

Alright. But I’m only 24 now, so maybe I’ll look back on that period and change my mind as I get older

2

u/Jeanric_the_Futile Sep 25 '22

I was 23 1 second ago. I'm still 23. I'm tired.

2

u/Devilgenez Sep 25 '22

Naive but learning a lot about the world and its inhabitants.

2

u/Mataurin-the-turtle Sep 25 '22

Sad, anxious and had an extremely hard time sleeping.

2

u/Welshgirlie2 Sep 25 '22

23: Hormonal, depressed, existing rather than living.

39: Still hormonal and depressed, but life is generally better.

2

u/SofiaRose3 Sep 25 '22

A hoe 😂

2

u/CrispSandwichMuncher Sep 25 '22

I’ll let you know in 6 years

2

u/ministerswife Sep 25 '22

2

u/mattisfamous1982 Sep 25 '22

Banging strippers👍

2

u/Chameleon777 Sep 25 '22

Very similar to how I am now, but with more energy and less wisdom.

2

u/Ok_Storage525 Sep 25 '22

I was 23 and still quite immature. I liked to party and drink a lot. I didn't really care about much else in life.

2

u/blubonobo Sep 25 '22

Selfish. Self centered. Self pleasing.

2

u/Previous_Ad7725 Sep 25 '22

4

u/Ethnye Sep 25 '22

2

Happy in my relationship and working everyday to support myself and my girlfriend.

2

u/Shiitake17 Sep 25 '22

About to turn 23! I am a dad and have a good amount of money saved up. Currently studying for the TEAS test to get into the nursing program. I love playing pickleball and video games. I hope 23 will treat me well.
